Glenn Colburn - NH State UIC and NFHS State Interpreter: RIP

We lost one of our own this past weekend.

Glenn officiated for 30 years. I've known him for 8 or 9 years as I came into umpiring, first in ASA and then NFHS. He was always willing to help out.

He also worked basketball and football. Softball guys I know that worked on his football crew (he was always the referee) rave about his game management and rules knowledge.

I was very fortunate to be able to work a National Tournament in Maryland where Glenn was the UIC.

I met Glenn in the late 90's, working Men's Modified ASA Nationals. He was one of the true gentlemen in the game. I was sorry to hear of his passing yesterday.

I only met Glen once, at a camp in Ct a few years ago. He taught me some things that I have totally incorporated into my game.

I always think of him when I do those things.

Can you share some of those? Curious if they're some of the things he mentioned to me on occasion.
