No argument with that. You would think any umpire working this level could work any position on the field without question. Then again, the NCAA has done stranger things.

Could it be as simple as "I want to work on my U3 game" or U1 or Plate and the rest work with it?

I wouldn't think this would be a good place to "work on my game". A friend of me a few years ago at a construction site jumped into a skid loader. A fellow worker asked him if he knew how to operate this piece of machinery correctly. His response........... "I'll practice on the way over to the next site" Huh??? Dave

The rotation was mandated by the brains in charge... just in case any of you weren't sure. It makes no sense to me personally, but in certain cases, I HAVE seen the junior umpire lose out occasionally...
