I have played fastpitch nearly forever! haha. I am 16 and would like to become an umpire. Is this possible? I live in North Carolina. If my age is okay, how do I become one?

ASA does have a youth umpire program. Maybe Mike Rowe will see this thread and put you in contact with the right folks in your area. btw, I started umpiring at 14.

Contact your local rec department, or your high school coach to find out who is the UIC in your town, or area. Give that person a call and tell them you would like to umpire, you WILL be calling before you know it! Be prepared to work hard, and study hard, and have a lot of fun, and learn the game from a whole new perspective! Good Luck!

I would suggest you e-mail Charles Baker @ [email protected]

He should be able to direct you to the closest local ASA organization to get started.

". I am 16 and would like to become an umpire"

Before you do anything else, see a psychiatrist about this tendency toward masochism.

Good luck,

Bob

Thumbs up Umping?

I would totally recommend you giving it a try. Even if you don't stick with it, it will give you a greater appreciation of the game AND other umpires, especially when you're the player!
