Stolen Trivia Question

Bases empty, no outs. The batter lays down a bunt that drops into foul territory, but it looks like it's about to roll fair. The C, thinking the play is dead, stops the ball by swatting at it with her helmet in foul territory. What’s the call?

My first instinct was a three base award. After reviewing NFHS rules, I see that is only correct for baseball. In softball, we apparently have a foul ball.

NCAA includes the scenario of the umpire judging the ball would/could have become fair if not contacted with the detached equipment, and treats it the same as a fair ball. Three base award.

All I can say is it better be REALLY clear the ball was about to be fair for you to survive making that call.

One of the reasons I like that ruling is if the ball can move from foul ground to fair ground, it can just as easily move back into foul territory.
