I don't come from that school. I go out there and bust my hump to be in the best position possible every play.

I have no problem dumping players when they decide they don't want to be there for the night any longer. The problem is, very few others take care of business.

I am the only umpire to ever ask for a line-up, the only umpire to ever check bats, the only umpire who ever abides by the ball rotation rule, the only umpire who keeps them in the dug out, the only umpire who makes them wear their hats right, the only umpire to make the runner on 3rd keep contact with the base, the only umpire to call an IP if the pitcher is off the PP, the only umpire to call an IP when the pitcher starts to pitch and stops for whatever reason the come up with......yada, yada, yada.

But to keep going, I just think how much smarter the Three Stooges were compared to these comedians. :D

We tried to get Ed to come here when McGriff's started to get so bad.....but he did not want to go to a forum that made you register to post.

I loved his AA (and if I am not mistaken, he actually coined the acronym) stories too. He did not go to eteamz either if I recollect.

His lunch time pole stories always got to me too. He would drive to the local field and set up his pole for pitch height.....stand behind the plate imagining the pitch height while he ate his sandwich.

Ed was always good for a laugh.

I've had a better time as I've gotten used to it and them and vice versa.

The last two games have been the best. I had the captains together. I said,"You play, I'll umpire. We won't be umpiring by committee. But I will answer questions on plays. But I will only talk to you two."

And they did just play.

I only work girl's high school ball in my "twilight" years. When I had a family to feed and was chasing a $, I'd work any kind of ball, anywhere, anytime. Those days are long gone. My last "adult" games were some co-ed slo-pitch down here. It simply became annoying. The high school games are still fun and it helps a lot that FHSAA has a very strong set of rules concerning sportsmanship in place.
