Lucky 13

Worked one of my longest plate stints I can remember doing yesterday: 13 lovely innings of Class C JV ball...and the reason I say 'lucky', is that if the visitor's 1st baseman hadn't...at the very LAST second...dropped the throw from SS for the 'last' out of the 13th inning as the home runner crossed the plate, we might STILL be there.

Actually it was a fun game to work - the kids all got excited as they played what was probably their first extra inning game ever, and especially as we got into the tie breaker, which I seriously have never had in a school game before.

Was it a little sloppy? Sure. Were the coaches clueless (especially on what constitutes a REAL strike zone)? Absolutely. Was it exciting? You bet!

But now for the important stuff........how many beers did it take to recover?

But really, "class C" JV? Wow!

Not sure what Class C JV is, but if it's anything like I'm imagining, my real strike zone would be "round and yellow and arrives in the vicinity of home plate on the fly."

I actually fell asleep before I could get to the beer....

Yeah, Class C. NYS divvies up the schools by enrollment, and our section further divides them up into 5 divisons. divisions I/II/III generally play each other, and IV/V play will each other.

Pretty much most of the Division I teams suck around here, and the D II/III teams are generally better. today I have two Division II teams, so it will be a pretty well played game....hopefully.
