Runner leaves early
Called dead ball, because the runner at 1st base left early before the pitcher released the ball . The pitch also hit the batter and slightly injured her.
Let the batter take 1st base. Neither coach said anything. Was letting the batter take 1st base the correct call or since dead ball was called have the injured batter bat again? |
No Pitch except NCAA

As already stated, in any association except NCAA, a runner leaving early is a no pitch situation. The ball was dead before the ball left the pitchers hand, the batter remains at bat with a bruise and the same count as before the pitch.

Thanks, I thought that was the case. I let this go because the score was 22-0 in the 3rd inning. The batter was from the losing team. This was their only base runners until the game ended. Still no excuse, but that is what I did.
