But I didn't see it !!!

How do you blues handle catchers obstruction?

Pitch comes, batter squares to bunt, catcher stands up.

I hear ball/bat connection , then I hear another tick. I didn't see what the tick was, but I heard it.

Would it have been okay to call catchers obstruction without seeing it ?

For the record I no called it-but now I'm thinking I should have called it.

If I didn't see it I wouldn't call it. I would hope your base umpire did and killed the play for you.

I sure hope he wouldn't kill it for me, he might signal delayed dead ball for me that would be handy.....but don't kill it on catcher's obstruction.

I don't really believe this was CO. The PU was obstructed by the catcher. I'm thinking this is more like the ball hitting the bat again which the BU should kill. That's what I think the extra tick was.

What do you think happened? A double hit? A bat/glove contact followed by a bat/ball contact?

What did the players actions tell you happened?

I'm thinking it was glove/ bat tick....Players actions didn't help. FWIW they were 12U.

Rolled in front of home plate about 5 feet. Everybody played on.

I would say that if the bat hit the ball and then you heard another sound, then you probably wouldn't have obstruction. That's not to say that the glove couldn't still get in the way of the batter completing the hit, but if the ball is already moving forward, it's going to be quite hard to have obstruction if here another sound.

Pretty good for not being there!

But for the record, I have a hard time picturing catcher's obstruction on a normal bunt.

A 12U F2 stands up and completely blocks your vision? Are you 4'-0", or are you not in the slot?

If it was CO, why did the extraneous noise occur AFTER bat/ball contact? Having trouble picturing that.

Too many things for this extra noise to be for the PU to be guessing at it, even if they are 70% sure.

SRW - you've never been blocked from part of the play by a suddenly rising catcher? You live a charmed life.

Not a 12U catcher, no.
