Rick,
What kind of experiences are you looking for? I call Fed, ASA, & NCAA softball and some American Legion baseball. All told, I've got over 30 years of umping. And, while there are far fewer times today that I will miss a call or mis-apply a rule, I still have my calls that can only be described as brain farts. ------------------ Steve M Member UT |

Hey Steve and Rick.......just found the site today.....
As to the original question.....been only doing ASA this year....may break down and do FED again soon Been calling steady for 4 years after a long layoff of close to 20 years when I called Legion Baseball when I was in college. I have been a FP softball Manager or Coach for 10 years...(retired this year....to hard to coach with 3 daughters playing). Rick,
I call Fed, USSSA, Pony, and local softball leagues. Mostly Fed and USSSA. I have called for 13 years, and just completed my 4th year calling varsity HS level ball. I also call Fed, USSSA, Pony, and local baseball leagues/tournments. I coached slow pitch and fast pitch girls for about 10 years, this period of time overlaping some of my officiating. I hope we can develope this board into a serious and active rules board. I'm one of the rarer creatures on these boards, it seems...
an umpire who has been working fastpitch softball for nearly a decade, but entirely within the Little League organization! I also work all levels of LL baseball, and some outside Babe Ruth, Pony, and men's games as well. I live in the Seattle area, and have been involved in the game of baseball as player, umpire, manager/coach, board member, etc., for over thirty years. Jeff Shelby |

I have been umpiring for a little over 5 years. I do LL, BR, Pony and FED fastpitch softball and LL, Cal Ripken(BR) and FED baseball.
I live in Northern Virginia (as you might have guessed) having been transplanted from Texas. --Sam Carter [This message has been edited by SamNVa (edited August 15, 2000).] |

I forgot to mention, I'm in north central Pennsylvania - just about 30 miles from Williamsport. Kinda funny in that I do very little LL - less then 10 games/yr out of over 250 or more.

quote: Rick, I worked baseball for 22 years, but got bored with the game. Moved over to ASA softball in 88/89 and, despite some of the BS, I enjoy working HS, JO and all levels of slowpitch. The highest level I've worked has been the plate on the ASA Men's Major Church National Championship last year in Mobile, AL. And don't let the "Church" tag fool you. The balls were still going 350-400 feet and the defenses were defensive. I am a Deputy UIC in Delaware. Mike Rowe DASA DUIC NASO member |
