What I meant was you really need both. Experience without expertise is just lots of practice at doing it wrong. Expertise without experience is book knowledge without practical application.

Yes, and this is likely what confused Bama's partner.

But this was a force situation. And R1 must vacate 1st until the BR is out. Then R1 could return to 1st.

Bama was correct that R1 could have been tagged while standing on 1st base... then the base could have been tagged to get the Batter-runner out. If the base is tagged first then R1 is safe... having never vacated the base.

I agree, but was using a broader meaning of expertise.

We all agreed on this. I was just expanding on Dakota's point, to be sure no newbies were misled about two on a base in a non-force.
