Using Federation Rules I thought that the use of catcher and first baseman mitts by players other than those is illegal.
However after researching this I cannot find a specific reference. The book only refers to the actual size of the mitts.
I know that in ASA it says specifically they are not allowed by other players.
Any thoughts?

I believe that a player in Federation may use any mitt ,as long as it meets the size and color regulations .

Fed. 1-3-6 pg. 15
The glove/mitt worn by the catcher may be any size.
a. Height measured from the bottom edge or heel straight up across the center of the palm to a line even woth the highest point of the glove/mitt:14 inches
b. Width of palm measured from the bottom esge of the webbing farthest from the thumb in a horizontal line to the outside of the little finger edge of the glove: 8 inches
c.&d. Wenning measured across the top end, or along any line parallel to the top: 5 3/4 inches. I guess we should carry a tape measure with us.
See also case book pg 14.
