Plenty of rule knowledge for a coach.

She already has enough knowledge of the rules to coach.

A quick story.

I managed an 8U team the year before I started umpiring. I was issued a rulebook but never really read it. I was truly a rules idiot and the umpires probably cringed when my team played. The next year I decided to umpire because I knew I could do a better job than the existing umpires. I took the open book test and felt like a fool. I discovered all my rule mistakes from the previous year. The first year was very humbling. I nearly quit that first year due to the grief I received from coaches and fans. One of my fellow umpires got me involved with HS football and I was hooked. I officiate year round now and I love it. Most people don't understand the enjoyment we get from this avocation. One negative aspect of being an official is I spent more time watching officials during any game I attend or trying to educate fans of their misconceptions.
