Red face

Working three man crew, am on 3rd. Visitors up 4-3 in the bottom of 8th. R1 on
3rd, R2 on 1st, 2 outs. First pitch to batter is a strike. F2 returns the
ball to F1, in the circle. F1 stares in to F2 for signal. R1 walks off 3rd
and draws a line about 3 1/2 to 4 feet up the line. I see this and am thinking, "What
is wrong with this pitcure?" Realize what I am seeing, call "Dead Ball, runner is out."
Ball game. Coach at 3rd yells, "What the hell were you doing?" Runner tells coach
that she was drawing a go to line. Her go to will be home, because this was a
second round playoff game.

Sounds like NCAA playoff game two years ago. Think it was a UCLA Bruin involved.

You are correct, and it was a fellow umpire from here in Phoenix that made the call!

The coach told me at the end of the game that I watch
to much TV. Guess the college play is what she was re-
ferring to.
