Expect the unexpected

I have been there before. Was working a JV game alone. 2 outs with runner on 2nd. Easy ground ball to 2nd baseman. I come out from behind the catcher and follow the batter/runner up the 1st baseline. Keeping my eye on the ball, as a good ump should, I see the 2nd basemen come up throwing to 3rd to gun the runner out coming from 2nd. Luckily she threw it over the 3rd baseman's head out of play. Just never know what to expect at the lower levels of play.
