Bat Safety Grip Attachment
I've been seeing a few of these lately (maybe because the guy who sells them is based in Ohio):
The Bat Jack Grip Trainer - Baseball / Softball Swing Aid Develops Proper Bat Grip For Hitting Does the velco strap used to attach the device meet the requirement of being "attached to the grip with safety tape"? (ASA 3-1-D). |

The purpose of the rule change was to allow devices like this, as long as they were securely fastened, stay on the bat and wouldn't come off when the bat was dropped. But the wording of the rule as written requires tape. I would suggest that a wrap of tape be put over the velcro strap, then it complies.

It has velcro to secure it, but the point of the velcro is for the batter to easily loosen the attachment so that they may move it. It may be secured when you first inspect it, but should they decide to change its location, they may not secure it properly the second time.
Safety tape eliminates that possibility.

Dave I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views! Screw green, it ain't easy being blue! I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again. |
