Just wanted to let y'all know that Ed emailed me and I answered him and inserted this URL and invited him to come on over to this site.
I can't wait for his AA stories of the new season!

Cool

Hey Glen,

How's the weather out there now? It's rained so much here that the frogs are drowning and the BIG earth worms are all over the sidewalks, etc. getting quashed to little bitty bits!
But, DD's first tournament of the season this weekend--Sunny and 70 degrees!!! AH--H-H-H

Elaine,
You better duck. I just got 3-5 inches of new white crap. I think I may throw some at you. 70 degrees & sunny, I can only dream for now..............

First games were supposed to be this weekend, but the college decided that their field would not be ready. Now I've got another 3 weeks almost til my first games.

Cool

By some miracle, I have already had 32 ball games via the
tournament route....Did 20 in two different Brenham, Tx.
tourneys, 8 in two local tournaments and 4 scrimmage games.
Got a couple of tales from tonight. Will get to them later
Walter Sparks granddaughter was pitching in two of the games
that I had the plate on over in the Brenham Tournament.

Steve, sure hope you can get started soon.

Elaine, let us know how Renee is doing.

Renee goes back to the Orthopedic today to have her hand x-ray'd to make sure the bone is mending. Her team is in tournaments this weekend and next, but she'll just be riding the pine and getting to know the girls.
For those of you that didn't know----a girl (trash) at Renee's HS called her and our whole family a few choice names. Instead of her hitting the girl, she hit the concrete wall. She was really p-o'd but did not want to get suspended. The doctor is optimistic about it healing fine in the cast--if not, minor surgery to insert a pin. She broke the bone that attachs to her pinky about mid way in her left hand---and she' left handed! Her Dad told her she should have punched the girl and saved her hand since her Travel Ball is starting up. (Georgia plays HS in the Fall)
But, thanks for asking, Glen.

Elanie,
I didn't realize that was how she got hurt. Sounds like a break very much like one I had. One of the few fights I won while trying to make a living at it ended when I knocked a guy out by hitting him & driving through so that his head was against the corner (turnbuckle). His jaw broke at the same time my hand broke. He was knocked out and the swelling from my hand almost instantly split part of the glove. Anyway, the hand will heal just fine - although she may get a minor bit of arthritis once she hits 40. Squeezing a soft rubber ball helps a lot. Do teenangers really hit 40 - ever?!? Anyway, here's hoping she does well in the season - and I even hopw you enjoy that 70 degree stuff - wanna trade? I'll give you ALL of this white/gray stuff for a sniff of some warm weather................

Cool

UPDATE!!

Renee's hand is healing well in the cast, and she won't have to have the surgery to insert a pin. YEA!!!
Her team played in it's first tournament this past weekend, but they lost Sunday morning and we went home.
Oh well! We had great weather, saw some good games and good folks! I even met Dick Anthony from Canada (he posts on the Fast Pitch Forum) as he came down with an 18U team (The Whitby Eagles) to play. He's a really nice old guy,
(72) and still coaches a 23U team and was helping with this team.
Three Gold teams were in our bracket also. Renee rode the pines in her uniform and warm up suit, handed out helmets,
snapped on chin straps (ASA) and retrieved bats. She did make a good start of making friends with the team. She and one other are new to the team and didn't know anyone.
The coaches and parents are great and we're looking forward to a good season. The team seems very multi talented with several that bat from both sides, 4 pitchers,
and some speed. I think we'll do well.
