Just found out my 18U tournament for this weekend has been cancelled because of all the rain in the Dallas area. Bummer!

I was getting my equipment ready earlier today and while cleaning my hats, I got to thinking about what Mike said earlier in the year about ASA putting the flag on the side.

Mike, I know you have a good understanding of flag protocol, but how are you going to deal with the 2003 requirement? Did you talk Merle into changing the guideline?(grin)

Just wanted to let everyone on the board know how much I appreciate their participation. It's amazing how often I put to use something suggested by one the board regulars. Even though I haven't posted much of anything lately, I read the board several times a week.

I have screwed this reply up 5 times already.....so I will keep it short......

Hats.......See:

http://www.softball.org

I don't have any of the flag hats yet.........but do have some of the iron-on patches..........

My local ASA group is not requiring them yet..........I do not know what my TASO group is going to do yet.........I may/may not call HS depending on whether my oldest plays HS ball or just Travel Ball.........

Go here to see some of the gear I have............and to see your daughter at bat........

my favorite is SteveM selling a Safe call............awesome photo.............

Check these photos out............

This is something too politically correct to have changed. Although they are not required until 2003, we were required to wear them for the Interservice (Military) NCs in Pensacola, FL.

So, I now have 5 hats with the flags which will be exclusively used for Championship Play and another half dozen which I will use locally.

I still don't like it, but don't expect people to understand why.

I still agree with Mike on this subject. I have only one
shirt with flag on it and no hats. I had to have a shirt
for a playoff game I would not have gotten otherwise. The
flag code is pretty clear on this, yet it is being done at
all levels of sports. I just don't happen to agree with
the wearing of the flag on uniforms, and not sure I will on
my hat unless I am definiately told that is the only way I
will be allowed on the field. There are too many other ways
to show patriotism. JMHO

BTW Gary, Thanks for the rain. I got one game in and was
scheduled for six today and six tomorrow.
