The knee is a piece of cake. The big issue will be the quads. When I woke up, I had a huge "swell" on the outside of my leg. Didn't know what it was right away, but the asst. surgeon came in and told me it to replace the knee, they have to slide everything to the side. So, the rehab is more to get the muscles and everything else connected, back in form. So, the key is to start working out before the surgury, especially the opposite leg. The key to rehab is to do what you are told and that is much easier if you are in shape and capable of supporting the knee with the rest of the body. It was probably the first time I ever paid attention to doctor's orders and it got me released weeks early. Doctor told me I would be a human barometer for a year or so. Also, no umpiring for a year, though I did a couple FP games in the summer and about a dozen SP games in the fall. Not because I had to, but had an itch I needed to scratch. Really ticked off my wife when she found out. I think that was more of a fear that I would forget about the knee and react to a play without considering the replacement. I reminded myself by wearing a brace. I didn't need it, but as a reminder to be mindful of the knee.
