I will tell how I do it and would like to hear input from others...........
Remember (Steve) though, we don't all have Vans that we can put whole bedroom suites in............grin I have a 97 Taurus and I carry one of those telescoping rods that go across the back seat which fits my slacks, T-Shirts, and Uniform shirts nicely............. I carry two gear bags for all my extras...........one for shoes, socks and feet related items........and another (big one) for everything else ...........I have two cap caddies that can fit into my large gear bag........and keeps my caps out of harms way.............. When I ran into glen at AFA States and Nationals this Summer.........He had a very unique way of carrying his things that I will let him explain..........I am seriously thinking of going to his system if I can figure out where to put my golf clubs................grin Joel |

Joel,
For empty nester types like me...... I have a Grand Voyager and removed the middle seat. If need be, I can use the middle of the van as a changing room. I've got a hanging bar that holds shirts and trousers - I have enough uniforms that I can go the weekend without washing them. I carry two pair of plate shoes and two pair of base shoes - they go under the remaining back seat. I've got a briefacse with my umpire diary, rule books, case books, various evaluation forms, and umpire lists. The leg guards are in a gear bag with some other stuff. I've got a cooler full of water, green tea, fruit juice, yogurt, ... and another cooler full of more adult beverages for after we're done for the day and want to contemplate what went on. Behind the back seat, I have three sets of drawers. In them I have T-shirts in three drawers - red, navy, white, black, and grey - another drawer for socks, one for shorts (I have the short tights and the long tights), shoe shine stuff in another drawer. Misc stuff like lineup cards & holders, pencils, pens, indicators goes into another drawer. Another drawer has ball bags & other stuff. I have hats in a drawer - nicely blocked & folded. Beside the drawers on one side, I have a pile of towels - I sweat enough that I'll go through ten or more towels in a weekend. I keep chest protectors beside the drawers on the other side. Steve M |

I have a Caravan, the original version of what became Steve's Voyager! I carry all the hang up stuff in much the way that has been described by the previous two posters, as well as a large locker type gear bag and a smaller regular gear bag. I have various and sundry extra tools of the trade such as indicators, brushes, pencils, hats so forth and so on.(I actually carry all my association hats in an even smaller Rebok bag that I picked up along the way somewhere. That way I know that I always have the correct hat with me.) Adult beverage cooler and "necessities" cooler. (You know, water and Powerade and all that gunk.) On hot days in Texas it is also nice to take a cooler with water and ice and ammonia stuffed with towels to help cool down. All my shoes and flip flops are neatly aligned in there as well. In the "way back," I have a lawn chair.
I carry so much crap with me that my wife has made me start loading the van the night before any tournament. I always worry when I pass this sign, , because one could hide amongst all the stuff and I would never notice. Scott |
