Is there a DH rule in ASA?
Is there a designated hitter rule in Men's ASA Softball - I sustained a rib injury that would prevent me from swinging a bat without pain, but was wondering if I could still pitch and have someone hit for me. Please advise - thanks.

It's not the DH. Have your coach look at the DP/FLEX rule. It's not identical, but sounds like it would fulfill your stated purpose.

While the original post wasn't clear, the DP/FLEX option is available in fastpitch and modified, but not in slowpitch. The only possibilities in slowpitch are if your league has a local rule that allows it, you get the league to agree to allow it, or if your doctor would certify you under ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).

True, I assumed fastpitch. My bad. (Every slowpitch league around us that I've played in or umpired bats the lineup, making the DH not necessary - hence the assumption).

I would, with pain in my heart, stay off the field while injuried!
When I was young(er), coming back from a knee surgery, I went too soon back on the diamond. Resulting in another opeartion 14 months later on the same knee! Never played again... So I keep saying: "When injured, stay away!" Nothing will help you more recovering than helping the team from behind the backstop...
