Yep. And the HS season starts February 1!

I'd rather put up with our 6' of rain each year -- although I can do without the hurricanes.

And when does it end? And league and travel ball start when? And fall ball starts when? And how many Halloween, Thanksgiving and holiday tournaments are there aside from the occasional friendlies and fundraisers between October and February?

Sorry, Bubba, I did say "sport" not just HS ball. Of course, it could be worse. You could live in some backward state that thinks softball is a fall sport. ;)

Since I concentrate on softball, I'm glad to have games I could call about 10 months out of the year. Heck, I'll be glad to get back on the field for any fastpitch game! It's been too long!

To each his own I guess.
I understand the sentiment, but it is what it is and I am where I am...

(and sports aside... happy to not being out shoveling snow)!

:)

My shoveling is quite relaxing, minimal in effort yet provides great cardio and upper body workout.

BTW, Even if I were in FL or any other area with constant warm weather, I would still only work April to August, September at the latest.

Come on Mike, you've got the power to get anything changed. See if you can get HS softball to be played in the Fall in Delaware. Dave

Let me see, the HS entity in Delaware canceled the umpire clinic on Thursday, yet it wasn't scheduled until Monday night. You think I had anything good to say about those folks?

Hell, I'm still pissed we didn't have the regional ASA clinic in Manassas this past weekend!

Fall softball in DE would cause the loss of a fair amount of umpires because quite a few are also football officials and they are going to work the football before softball EVERY time. And then you have people who just prefer to watch or attend football games on the fall weekends who just wouldn't be bothered.

Unlike our backwards neighbors in Georgia , we have school softball in the spring. First practice 1 Feb, first scrimage allowed 8 Feb, official play starts 8 March.

Most of the fall ASA tournaments can't start on Friday night like they do in the summer. From players who are also cheerleaders, to the players who just have to be there, to the coaches who want to watch--and, yes, the officials who are busy-- Softball starts at 8:00 AM Saturday.

I rememeber that.
Just finished the last HS pre-season tournament game.
First regular season JuCo game was Wed.

Amen, Brother!

2 DII games, 4 JC games in the book last week.

I have worked 1 ASA tournament and UIC'd another in the past month.

I like sunshine and I like softball...If I feel like I need a break, I just don't provide availability for a weekend or two.

HS clinics are wrapping up, scrimmage games next week, real games the week after....

Damn I wish you hadn't done that, Randall. It is was clearly directed at me, to those on this board who know me and Mike as friends; I was intentionally ignoring it, and another Georgia blue steps in it .

Sheesh.....

Just thought I'd save you the trouble of cleaning off your shoes!

It won't happen again! :)

Sheesh.....

I know that GA is one of the states, but I really didn't direct it at anyone in particular. Sorry, Steve, I hope you don't feel slighted.
