But rain? There's a wonderful invention called an umbrella, and I buy the biggest friggin' umbrella I can find! Yep, I'm that a-hole. :) Quote:

A post titled "2010 Answer Key" could be...
- Somebody looking for the answer key, in which case he's probably going to get hammered hard by most posters here. - Someone who has found an error in the answer key, which might be of interest to umpires taking the test. - Someone reporting that someone else has posted the answer key somewhere, and that would likely generate a lively discussion. But, instead we are accused of being cheaters with devious ulterior motives. Let's see...how is it we treat a coach that questions our integrity? |

I'd rather put up with our 6' of rain each year -- although I can do without the hurricanes. |

Sorry, Bubba, I did say "sport" not just HS ball. Of course, it could be worse. You could live in some backward state that thinks softball is a fall sport. ;) |

I understand the sentiment, but it is what it is and I am where I am... (and sports aside... happy to not being out shoveling snow)! :) |

BTW, Even if I were in FL or any other area with constant warm weather, I would still only work April to August, September at the latest. |

Hell, I'm still pissed we didn't have the regional ASA clinic in Manassas this past weekend! Fall softball in DE would cause the loss of a fair amount of umpires because quite a few are also football officials and they are going to work the football before softball EVERY time. And then you have people who just prefer to watch or attend football games on the fall weekends who just wouldn't be bothered. |
Unlike our backwards neighbors in Georgia , we have school softball in the spring. First practice 1 Feb, first scrimage allowed 8 Feb, official play starts 8 March.

2 DII games, 4 JC games in the book last week. I have worked 1 ASA tournament and UIC'd another in the past month. I like sunshine and I like softball...If I feel like I need a break, I just don't provide availability for a weekend or two. HS clinics are wrapping up, scrimmage games next week, real games the week after.... |
