Does anyone have or know of an education program within their association/area aimed to at reducing the instances of umpire/referee abuse in sport?
I would be interested in hearing about trategies/techniques in use and the success (or otherwise) of such programs. As we all probably know real abuse (as opposed to the old fashion "Hey Blue, I've seen potatoes with better eyes!" style comedy relief ) is luckily a rare occurence but becoming more common and seemingly 'acceptable' to certian elements within today's society all arounf the world. I am interested in implementing some sort of preventative scheme in the coming season, so any assitance/advice will be greatly appreciated. Martin |

NASO has been studying abuse towards officials for the last several year..............
Try here............ http://www.naso.org/rprt1.htm If this is not exactly what you want........there are many links on the page that can help...........you may need Adobe Acrobat (at least 5.0) to read them.......... There are many here who have no love lost for NASO......... Referee Magazine let us Softball people down in a BIG way last year...............and many here will no longer subscribe.............me among them......... BUT.........NASO does offer some benefits..........but they are yours to chose......... JMHO Good luck Joel [Edited by Gulf Coast Blue on Jul 31st, 2002 at 05:13 AM] |
