NSA World Series
it's that time of year again, the NSA World Series is upon us!
what do you guys think of this event? who is working it and where? I will be attending some of the games, as simply a spectator in Indiana (the class B). Nothing to serious, just go see a friend or two and watch some umpires from across the country do their thing. |

I don't know, what does that have to do with my questions?
or is this going to turn into an "ASA is better because that's what I work and we are more robotic and wear bluer pants" type thread? |

A softball World Series is always a good thing. :)
To rephrase Mike's question: how many teams are planning on being there, and where are they coming from? |

But, yeah... how is an elimination tournament a "series"? |
Similar to ASA's "directional" Nationals? Southern, Eastern, etc.?

I will say that last year in the PONY 'nationals we had teams from Canada, Russia, another former eastern bloc country that escapes my mind at the moment, and have had teams from the Bahamas in the past. While PONY has never thrown 'world in their name, national is a little misleading with about 12 of the 50 states represented too.

No argument with the "national" when territorially restricted though it is possible for a team to play in one of these tournament outside their territory. |
Up here they are hosting the NSA "Western Worlds" this week. 80 teams from WA, NV, 10 teams from CA...and five from CANADA. Do if you disregard the fact that about 3/ths of the teams are from WA, and there are no teams from adjacent states...this is a really big deal...for someone...
BUT... The umpires are getting $30 per game PLUS travel. |
How about we all refuse to umpire tournaments which are inappropriately named? ;)

I took a team to an NSA "World Series" several years ago. We fared well. It was near Orlando, FL close to where the "It's a Small World" song is sung! We really had a Universe Series. Some of my girls spent most of their time in space! I don't care what you call it. I've seen a "World Series" with less than 20 teams, all from the same state! |
