I will say that last year in the PONY 'nationals we had teams from Canada, Russia, another former eastern bloc country that escapes my mind at the moment, and have had teams from the Bahamas in the past. While PONY has never thrown 'world in their name, national is a little misleading with about 12 of the 50 states represented too.

Hence, PONY is not included in my comment.

No argument with the "national" when territorially restricted though it is possible for a team to play in one of these tournament outside their territory.

Up here they are hosting the NSA "Western Worlds" this week. 80 teams from WA, NV, 10 teams from CA...and five from CANADA. Do if you disregard the fact that about 3/ths of the teams are from WA, and there are no teams from adjacent states...this is a really big deal...for someone...

BUT...

The umpires are getting $30 per game PLUS travel.

How about we all refuse to umpire tournaments which are inappropriately named?

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.
