Now that NFHS has gone to 43' (beginning 2010-11 season), will ASA change anything for 16U or 18U-B?

Good change on pitching distance and on letting bobby pins etc...

Not sure why we needed a definition or clarification on a fair ball?

It's the second base deal. I suppose (guess) they are trying to deal with the imaginary line theory as to what constitutes "beyond 1st and 3rd".

Love the bobby pin rule.

I guess some jewelry nazis are gonna have to find something else to do with all their spare time other than hair inspections. :D

Tout au contraire, wade old friend. The referenced document says:
Quote:

Added an exception to permit hard, unadorned devices, such as bobby pins, barrettes and hair clips, no longer than 2 inches, to be worn to control a player’s hair.
Plenty of justification there for continued hair inspections! :D

Doh!

You are correct.

I must further indure then...

Some of the changes are changes just to make changes.

Was that an Infield Fly?

Oh yea the batter is out.

I wish they'd eliminate the leap from the women's game. Both NFHS and ASA. I see no reason to restrict leaping because of the sex of a player.

Many years ago in a company modified pitch league I played in, we had a couple of female pitchers. They pitched from the 46' distance. I don't recall that leaping was of particular concern back then, although the crow hop was a known violation. I'd guess if the women were pitching from 46', they'd be allowed to leap [w/ the toe pointed down, of course - but that's another discussion].

Now that there is a clarification of the line up card, will there be a penalty for an inaccurate line up card?

It is. A pop fly that drops untouched to the infield and rolls foul is not a fair ball. The infield in NFHS was a triangle - home to 1B to 3B to home. Now it is a rectangle - home to 1B to 2B to 3B to home. Same as ASA.

I think it would be best if that started at NCAA and went down. IMO, ASA is prep ball for NCAA and should confirm closely to their rules in that regard.

I know you mean on the female side. :) ASA is more than just JO ball.

The leap was eliminated from the men's game to keep them playing ASA ball. Had nothing to do with the amount of intimate situations by a player.
