I'm not saying she isn't out, but she isn't waaaaaay (sic) out. And if you saw the same broadcast I saw, the camera angle is different than the Division I championships.

Steve M and I was working a fall game with her a few years ago (before the lines), and we questioned it (she throws very hard, and you will miss the pitch if you watch her feet). So we looked at foot prints just being curious. Out of the 24", most likely, but not by much. We discussed this with the coach, who didn't want her to be outside because "that takes her off her power line" (I know, it was coach speak). BTW, she does not throw a screw ball.

and according to someone I know that works lockhaven on a regular season basis she throws extremely hard whatever pitch she may be throwing even if she doesnt have a screw Im sure she has a pitch that moves three ways from sunday before it hits the mitt.

Nope, she is a power pitcher with excellent location, works outside and then inside. The throws the nastiest change up ever. That's why her working out of the 24" is surprising (if not desired by the coach).

well I do know that she throws hard so landing outside the 24" is something that would be difficult to judge when tracking that ball.

I was watching the WCWS game with Arizona and Florida and her positioning looked fine during that game.

The one that looks close or could possibly be out is the Georgia pitcher. She is definitely pushing the line limits. I have not seen an IP called on her.

just curious if they are ever going to call Stacy Nelson from Florida out of the pitching lane. 9 out of 10 pitches she steps out of it it seems. I know the pitchers wipe it away but can a coach request it be re-lined?

How about Hamilton? She has never been between the lines.

Yes, they can.

Probably been answered, have not read entire thread.

Well, Kevin Davis got it right finally.

Hamilton been out most of the time.

You know it is bad when the talking heads keep bringing it up.

Hamilton is absolutely terrible. Same on her coach. We are not talking close, but almost to the point that her foot clears the line by at least 6".

If there was any courage.........never mind, that would just be a waste of keystrokes.

3B umpire when rotated behind 2nd

In our pre season meeting for NCAA it was emphasized that this is best to be watched by the 3b ump and that they should watch and set up to see and call the pitching lane violations when rotated behind second base. Anyone else get this instruction?

3SPORT Sat May 30, 2009 09:31pm

Yes, I remember that was the explanation from the NCAA meeting. The umpire in the rotated position (either 3BU or 1BU (counter rotated)) is in the best position to call the pitching lane violation.
In the Georgia - Michigan game the home plate umpire called the IP's on Hamilton.

It may be the "best" position comparatively, but even in that position the umpire still does not have a good look.
