just like no steel or steel allowed. If it were me, I'd modify the arc as requested, inform teams during pregame and direct all queries to the TD. I'd also point out to the TD that if you change in mid stream like that he risks not having all those out of town teams coming anymore or maybe only the out of town teams. He might reconsider and insert the new rules at the start of his next tourney.
I work one set of rules in SP. If the TD wants a certain arc, s/he is going to need to get umpires who work that game. Just as using LL-only umpires for an ASA tournament is not fair to the teams expecting to play under ASA rules. As a player, I always expected and prepared for a certain set of rules depending upon the tournament.

If rule adjustments are part of a tournament, they should be posted PRIOR to teams entering. However, these decisions are that of an adult and if they do not like that rule set, they should have passed on the tournament.

NOTHING should ever change midstream unless that option is previously posted.

Pet peeve!

The action the TD attempted to take in the OP is part of the problem with softball and this country, in general. Too many people just believe they are above the rest of us and can do as they please.

Much like a moron who decides to move and build a house in a rural area. Putz gets a good price next to a pig farm that has been operating on that parcel for 100 years. After the idiot completes the house and moves in, sues the pig farmer for the same smell that was quite evident long before the property was purchased.

We have been experiencing a similar situation in softball for the past couple of decades. A team comes to a tournament which allows no home runs and spends the entire weekend whining about not being able to hit a home run. When suggested that they play the tournament of a level which allows home runs, they whine about how YOU are trying to force them to play at a level at which they cannot compete. ASA just bowed to this type of pressure and to be honest, I don't think it is going to work the way adding another level was intended. If it does, great, that means the commissioners did their job. If not,......oh well, just one more thing we will have to hear from the players.

Rant off!
