Here's the situation. A runner is heading from 3rd to home. The catch recieves the from the throw. The ball bounces out of the glove but she catches it with her off hand. The ball is still touching part of the mitt and the runner runs into the mitt. Does the ball have to be clearly inside the mitt for her to be out or does just contact with the mitt count?

Tag Out....

If a tag is required, and by your explination it is, I'm going to look for ball and hand in this situation to be together in some way...no matter how minor and look for ball control by the catcher. If control is had by the catcher I've got an OUT !!! May want to sell it.

I agree with Bandit, look for catcher control, the tag, "show me the ball", and SELL the out!!
