No news here. We have a great commissioner who made it a point to not interfere with the umpire program.

Previous commissioner (former umpire) wouldn't lift a finger or spend a penny to help the umpires during his reign. If a National wasn't a rotation slot, umpires did not go away. Host exchange, what's that? Personal recognition or awards (i.e., NIF) just dropped in briefcase, unsigned and unsubmitted.

My commissioner gave me a free rein and I used it to send more umpires away to nationals in the last 5 years than the number which went away in the previous 20+.

For her own well-being, a well-respected, honorable commissioner needed to retire to allow others to absorb the duties necessary to keep the local in top running condition.

This appears to be a good thing for your area.

It is a good thing. Big boys are in town today for meeting.

This is what was anticipated and what needed to occur. And the best part is that I was assured the umpire program would be allowed to continue without any restraints.
