Found a great Non-Plated Umpire Shoe
Hey guys I was recently in the market for a good slow pitch shoe that is comfortable and of course all black.
I came across a website 3N2 I Softball Cleats, Softball Shoes, Softball Spikes, Softball Turf Shoes, they are coming out with a shoe around December called the Reaction. I have spoke with a sales rep and this shoe will not only be moderatly priced it is supposed to be the best. Just thought I would share the information |
If the make it in a mid-top I'll buy a pair.
|
According to the website, the shoes aren't expected to ship until 1/15/09.
Don't know who this company is or how their shoes stand up to others, but I do appreciate that their website has a link specifically for umpires. I also appreciate the "black on black" style of the shoe. Saves me $ in Sharpies. Website needs a little bit of work, though... The framework looks good, but the content is in short supply. I'd shore that up pretty quick if I were you, Josh. :) |
Maybe the photo doesn't do the shoe justice, but it kind of looks to me like an umpire earth shoe. :D
|
Not bad, but I'll stick with New Balance. Just picked up a pair of triple-wide shoes at Dick's for under $50

For what it's worth, 3N2 has a contract to sell a very similar shoe to ASA Properties for umpires sales; it was displayed this week at the ASA Umpire Committee meeting. It would surprise me if this wasn't the same shoe, and that the "umpire" link developed from that.
And, consider me out there as a skeptic, but I also have a strong suspicion we have addressed an ad posting, and that our new member (first post) UmpireJosh is the sales rep, and spoke with himself. |

Now, that I have looked at the shoe it could rank in the top 10 for ugliest of all time also. I know it is not a fashion shoe out there, but really, not a shoe I want to out on my feet.
|
That is one ugly shoe. It also does not look as attractive and comfortable as the ones players use.
The players that use the 3n2 swear by it as being the most comfortable shoe they have ever used. Of course, they are wearing the top of the line and those ones probably cost a little more than 54 ish bucks. |
I just looked at the players shoes- 5995 so for 5 dollars I cannot believe the materieals and comfort would be that different.
|
Shows what I know. Have to try em.

In response to the questions no I am not a salesrep for 3n2. i attended the recent NSA convention in Panama City and i saw the shoe. I spoke to one of the sales rep and he mentioned that the design comes from the NSA ASA and UIC umpires. They also informed me of a Plated shoe coming out in 2010. I just wanted everyone to know because I think this will be the best shoe on the market

So, Josh, were you just web-surfing for an umpire shoe at the NSA convention? Did you see the shoe in person, or the on-line picture? |
A plated shoe? Like what a knight would wear?
Hey, as long as it's black... |

That's what I would like to know. |

You guys are tough on a new kid on the block!
I'm a young guy looking at possibly doing some umpiring next year, so I'm still learning. So, boards like this are great. I did some research online as I didn't have a clue and saw the New Balance and Spot-Bilt shoes you guys mentioned. In web surfing, I came across this company which I'd never heard of. I had a friend sneak me into the NSA Convention Tradeshow earlier this month and happened to see this shoe in along with all the other stuff all the companies were showing. I've had friends wear 3n2 turfs you guys talked about earlier, so I was curious. All I know is it felt good in the hand and price was good. While checking their booth out, they had a lot of guys stopping by it seemed. Can't tell you how it compares to the New Balances or other stuff you guys mentioned as I haven't worn them. I haven't been around the block as long as everyone else, so I guess I deserve to get my chops busted a bit. Just don't hold it against me :) hope this helps you guys anyways. |
We get spam regularly here from someone selling shoes. If you really are a soon-to-be rookie umpire, don't take it personally. If you really are posting spam for your employer, 10 points for persistence, and pass along that they either have one ugly shoe or they need to put up a more flattering photo on their web site.

Just an observation.................. |
OK guys, I purchased the 3n2 shoe while working the Underarmor tournament in Clearwater last March, except it was a turf shoe and the leather upper was not as smooth lether upper in the shoe coming out in December. It is extremely comfortable. I umpire, I also sell New Balance and Tanel shoes. I have ordered the 3N2 shoe to sell next year and I like this shoe a lot. I use it as my base shoe. New Balance has discontinued their 350 base shoe and their new base shoe will have a lot of patent leather and white on the shoe. If you get a chance to try it, give it a try, it does only come in a D width, however.

Maybe if they're patent leather... Mike, we must update your uniform. Give your shoes back to John Travolta and head over to Honig's. Immediately. |

Trust me. You don't want pictures. That's something you don't need nor want to see. |

If I can find my yearbook from my senior year (1973), you'll have a picture that is close. I don't have any of me in the leisure suit, for which we may all thank our favorite deity/higher power/Wild Bill Silves/whatever.
The scars may be pretty painful. Can you say enough hair spray to embarrass Jimmy Johnson? I dunno if they are doing eye grafts yet, but they may be necessary. At the very least, detached retinas. |

Obviously, I am just kidding..............I think.;) |
I'll stick with my Tanel'. I love them!!
