compression tights
For this spring, I was wondering if there are any clothing co's that produce a compression full leg length tight with a cup pocket?
I always wear compression tights when I work plate, and always have to wear seperate compression shorts with a cup pocket. Just wondering if anyone makes anything like this because it would be much more comfortable... |

I think McDavid also makes the hexpad in a compression tight also.
|
Also, UltraJoc makes one.
Personally, I just keep wearing the compression shorts. Any particular reason you want the full-length? |

Honigs has long socks that are amazing under the shin guards. The Under armor soccer socks also do the same job, and if you have an Under armor outlet around or near you they are usually 3 for around 5 dollars.
I forgot my special compression shorts a few years back and put my cup in a regular sock and draped the sock over the top of the compression shorts and it has worked great ever since. I get a couple of strange looks in the locker room/parking lot when I change, but no one should be looking there anyhow.:D |
That's what I do. (The soccer socks and compression shorts, NOT the other method!):D

I've tried regular soccer socks with compression shorts, and found them to a lot hotter than the commpression tights. I haven't tried underarmor brand, though.

compression gear
I've read in a couple of threads about compression gear, which I'm not really familiar with. I'm curious to know how many of you guys/gals wear this equipment, what kinds, etc.
Apparently there are shorts, pants, shirts, socks. How are these things to wear when it's real hot, or in the chill of early Spring games. I'm in New Hampshire and we usually start in April. Not unusual to do a game with temperatures in the low 50s. And in July and August, we do have the occasional 100 degree weekend. I have flat feet and they get tired and sore if I'm working a lot of games at a tournament. I was wondering if compression socks would help alleviate some fatigue. Also, shorts - if it would help avoid that uncomfortable jock rash. Figured I'd add on to this existing post instead of starting a new one. Thanx for your inputs and opinions. |
Well, this thread is going straight down the TMI road, but... screw it.
Personally, I wear the Shock Doctor compression shorts ($25 each at ump-attire.com) with the Shock Doctor cup in the built-in pouch. Lately, it's been 90+ degrees every day out on the field with at least 60% humidity (usually closer to 90%), and I'm wearing my navy Fechheimers. I never feel "too hot" down there, though I use a bit of Gold Bond to help keep things cool and dry. WAY more information than you needed to know, but hey... It's all part of the profession. |

They are Thorlo, plate socks. A little expensive but once you use them you will wonder why you ever wore anything else, especially if you are working an all day tournament. |

How do these socks hold up? When I was still skiing, I had picked-up a few pair of Thorlos at Steamboat. Unfortunately, they wore worse than the ASA 3-ring knee-highs. Don't know whether it was the brand or the construction, but I'm not inclined to invest in them again barring new data. |

As for wear, I still have almost all of them I ever purchased that I use for boot socks when I go walking in the woods. None of them ever wore out at the points where the guards rubbed or where the plate shoes hit. I also don't remember any of them ever developing the little pills that some types do. As an aside, they were really good at NOT holding a smell like some types do. Your may get different results, but I think you will be pleased if you try them |
I always felt the compression tights made my @$$ look too big.;)
Actually, back in the olden days when I was in exotic climes like TX, before UnderArmor was a gleam in someone's eye, many of us wore long underwear because we wanted to be sure and work up a little sweat to keep us cool. Not a LOT of sweat, just some. I wear compression shorts. Used to wear McDavids, but got two pair UltraJoc this year and really love em. I usually wear special socks to be sure I don't get blood clots and keep good circulation going (after effects of the heart stuff). Not too far removed from the old compression tights, but my @$$ looks much better.:D |

Sorry, guys... I'll work on that! Just kidding. I think I threw up a little in my mouth... No offense to you, of course, John. :) |

It was...breathtaking. But thanks to those compression shorts the virtually worthless cup was right in its place... |

I wear full length compression tights, even in hot weather and they work well for me. They wick sweat away from the legs and prevent irritation from the shinguards, I do not feel too hot wearing them at all. Of course we'll see if that is the case when I start working ball in the Houston heat and humidity. ;) |

I've got the McDavids, sold by Honigs'... |
McDavid Compression Tights?
The McDavid's seem to be sold out everywhere. Can anyone point me to a good alternative?
|
I wear knee high compression socks. They are $20 but one cool thing they do is whisk the sweat from your feet. I can be sweated up everywhere but my feet are still dry. I also like how the shin guards fit over them.
