I've heard that at the NCAA level at least half of them prefer this tag.

That tag is illegal in 13 states (mostly in the south).

Granted, I'm a baseball guy, but I watched a bunch of games during the softball college World Series and 2 things became very evident.

The girls don't know how to slide and the girls don't know how to tag runners.

I agree in part, but don't think it is a gender thing 'cause I've seen a fair amount of little ball lately where the boys were not executing proper sliding mechanics.

Are you referring to dropping the glove in front of the base as opposed to actually reaching out and tagging the runner?
