How many outs?
Question: R1 on 1B, no outs. How many outs do you get when a batted ball first hits the dugout fence and then rolls down the field in foul territory and strikes the base coach's left foot?
Answer: Two. R1 and B3. PU's explanation: The ball could have hit a rock and bounced fair, and F5 could have made a double play. Therefore the base coach prevented a potential double play, and both outs stand. And no, a protest was not called by the offense. Go figure... Based on a true story. Edited to change an I to an A. |
You failed to mention the rule set?!?!?:D

Just kidding, sarcasm alert, notice the smiley face!!!
Sounds like the ump grabbed into his bag of thin air and grabbed whatever he came up with. |

 Three outs. 1) Ump not calling foul when " ball first hits the dugout fence" :( 2) Ump for the explanation  3) OC for not questioning or protesting :p :D :D :D |
What if the dugout fence is one of those doggie "invisible fence" deals? Huh? Huh? Didn't think of THAT, didja? :D
Besides it was another one of those $hitty $eattle days. You'd be calling outs, too. (no, I was not the umpire...) |
