Jacket

Whatcha all think about the look and style of Blue's jacket for a fastpitch umpire? Like it? Don't like it? Thoughts?

Looks OK, UNLESS that is a black jacket with navy cap. If both are the same color, I don't have a problem with it.

Along with the jacket matching the cap, if the PU is wearing a jacket, it should also match the BU's.

Unless it's a suggested change that we all end up buying. As I have said many times, I don't care what the uniform is, just stop changing to make the clothing companies rich.

Must be a at least a 3-man game.

Looks a lot like Honig's K17-PB, but the stripes in the picture in the OP might be wider. Can't tell about the collar, either. Same colors and basic design, though.

Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but it sure looks like a black jacket with a navy blue cap. Dave

Actually, I have heard rumors that our state high school association is going to that look next year. There's a local guy that sells umpire/referee gear that is having them designed to our state interpreter's specs. I saw one of the first ones a few months ago - gonna be pretty nice. I'm trying to talk him into putting some kind of removable lining in them.

I think those jackets look professional and sharp, with the above stated caveat that everything needs to match- caps, jackets and partners.

Our state high school association approved the navy blue version, with red shoulder trim, for both baseball and softball, last season.

I had to buy one to do college ball in.

When? Why? How? Unless there has been a change that I am yet unaware of, NCAA is straight navy on the jacket.

I like it - a little color looks good.
I can't tell if that's a navy jacket and a navy hat or if they're black.
Either way, I think they look good.
Glen had to buy one to work with his college association. I've had to buy a couple of different ones for college ball. While plain navy is the standard, you'll often see associations make their own selection - and that's OK.
I don't mind uniforms changing with different levels of ball - I don't like the expense or all the room different uniforms take up, but I do like to look different than the average high school or recreational umpire.

Possibility I should have said JUCO, cause that is what they wanted us
wearing around here.

The jacket looks nice to me.
However i'm wondering why he (and his partner(s)) put the jacket on. It can't be that cold if one team is wearing singlets...

jackets

Sander,

How have you been doing? Good to hear from you on the board again. The jackets that you see worn are used by some NCAA conferences if the coordinator wants them worn. Also in non conference games if all umps at that game have them. I think they look really good.

How was your summer. Is the family good? Say hello to everyone for me.

Larry
