personalized hemets

The head of athletics for my local county is asking us to not allow girls to wear "personalized" hemets. You know what I mean; ones with the girl's name on it, usually coming from a travel team they are on. He feels that it takes away from the team aspect of the sport, focusing more on the individual player.

There's nothing illegal that I can see about this type of hemet so long as it passes all the other criteria(NOCSAE symbol, etc, etc.). And in a way he's probably right about the team/individual thing. And in an even larger issue, he is the man we negotiate our contracts with, so I don't really have a problem enforcing this.

Just wondering, does anyone else has this type of local rule in regards to helmets?

I have been in places like this.
I know during the state championships, (FED ball) a few years ago, we were told specifically to NOT allow them.
At all, was the specific term.
You have to do what your hiring group/boss wants unless it directly contradicts the rules or safety.

Or health. Just have some Mom call up the person who made up this rule and give him a run-down of all the problems from a head lice infestation on a softball team. Make sure she lets him know he will be blamed. That'll put a stop to it.

From one of those moms who's dealt with the lice problem before (in three long-haired daughters at once, no less)....Hello? Mr. Athletic director? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!? DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO GET RID OF A CASE OF PESTICIDE RESISTANT HEAD LICE?!? Show me the rule that says "EQUIPMENT" has to match! I didn't know helmets were part of the "uniform"!!!

Talking to the wrong people. That individual needs to be talking to the teams, not the umpire.
