Question

NFHS RULE IN EFFECT

R1 on 3B, R2 on 2B, with one out. B4 hits a fly ball to
F7. The ball is caught and R1 tags up and scores. R2
remains on 2B. Offensive manager notices F7 has a mitt on
and informs the umpires. Umpire rules legal glove, legal
catch. Only book available at time was ASA. Naturally it
did not back up the call, it stated illegal glove, illegal
catch, but believe that NFHS is different is it not? In
process of moving and cannot find my NFHS Rule book. Teams
wanted to utilize NFHS rules, we stuck with our good catch
call.

thanks,
glen

In FED a mitt, as long as it meets size and color restrictions, is legal for fielders.

Glen,
Here's a suggestion for the future - do not bring a rule book out at a game that is being played under another sanctioning body's rules. That's kinda like just asking for trouble.

Thanks Steve,
Agree with your observation. However, I did not take the
book, some yahoo in the stands told coach he had a rule
book. [ did not stop the game while he was searching for his
rule book.] When he returned it was the the ASA brand. I
informed coach we playing NFHS per his desires, not ASA.
Of course, his reply, "aren't they all the same?" If
I have rule book with me, it is usually in vehicle.
