Has anyone purchased the Official ASA Umpire Mechanics and Rule Book CD-ROM from ASA? $25 seems a bit steep to buy a pig-in-a-poke, so I was wondering how it was put together.
Is it an HTML file, DOC file, PDF file, or something else? Can it be searched for words / phrases? (That would be very useful for us web-site junkies.) How does the ASA intend to update it? Would I have to buy a new one each year for another $25? It looks like it was put together by a Texas group, (even my umpire eyes can see the Texas Services logo on the front) so maybe some of you Texas guys know about it or have it or have seen it being used? |

I have not bought one, but I will early next year when it contains the 2002 rules. I have the same concerns regarding updates. The cd also contains a mechanics manual. I will be using illustrations from it to work on the mechanics in some high school clinics I'll be assisting with. I've got this and a number of other teaching aids I'll be buying for the same purpose. $25 is a bit much, but I will be able to deduct the expense, so I won't feel the full price (eventually).

I seen one. Will talk to my UIC/DUIC this week. We have a tournament 22/23 Sept. so I will see them. For AFA they gave us CD-ROM once we registered. Cannot find it rite now nor can I remember what type file it was. If anyone hears anything please let me know. BTW Steve, got my Case book, thanks. glen
