allowing the coach to make an appeal is a mistake in my opinion (especially a live ball appeal........ouch......how are they going to do that...

Easy. Coach goes out onto playing field, fielder throws him the ball, he tags the runner!

Even with a comma after "coach" (so the coach doesn't have to have the ball, etc) how will this work? Mike Rowe made some excellent points about this above when he wrote...

How is a coach going to make a live ball appeal without interfering with the game?

If a coach wants to make an appeal, the play is going to be suspended since as the umpire, I'm not going to turn my back to the field to listen to a coaches appeal. I am, also, not going to be liable for recognizing a particular coaches voice while I am watching a play unfold.

Nope, ain't gonna happen.

Once again, someone please explain how a coach is going to tag the base or the offending runner during a live ball appeal and not interfer with the game and probably be ejected.

The NFHS proves once again that they do not discuss changes with the proper, or at least more experienced, authorities.
