Spectator.....not umpiring.......
I will try to explain this as best as I can...... F1 starts quite normally......takes the plate hands separated......takes the sign......puts hands together....... Then......drops both hands to her side for about 3 seconds......then rotates the pitching hand out straight in front of her body (horizontal to the ground) and pauses for about 1 second........ Then the pitching arm rotates to the rear (normal pause at the backswing) and then the windmill to completion..... In and of itself, there was nothing illegal about the pitch..............BUT......I keep thinking back to the verbage that once the hand separate......the pitch should be immediately delivered....... Help me out........am I looking for something that isn't there? Joel |

ASA 6.3C The pitcher must not make a stop or reversal of the forward motion after separating the hands.
Illegal pitch as you described it. Both pauses after the separation must be eliminated. |
