last night in a coed game I had a runner on 2nd, and the batted ground ball going right up the middle. 2nd baseman while sliding to his right pushed the runner off the bag & the ball hit her. He was behind her. I ruled dead ball as if she was hit while standing on the bag.

Assuming the ball hadn't passed a defender other than the pitcher and you awarded the BR 1B, I have no problem with that call.
