I've seen two credible reports that ISF is moving the distance for the girls (juniors) pitching plate to 43 feet. I wonder if ASA won't be far behind...

I know that the move to 43 feet is a proposed rule change for this year's council meeting to be held next week.

Here in Florida for NFHS play, we will be using the 43 feet on a "trial basis" this next season.

Personally, I think it will do the game a lot of good.
More offense for the game is what I think will happen.

Have not read anything about a move to 43 feet pitching distance in Michigan although it might help increase the offensive production of the game.

I would imagine that ASA would make a change if ISF does, at least in the divisions that would be affected (18U and older, possibly). Given the recent cooperation on rules between ASA and NFHS, I also think it likely that ASA will be watching the NFHS experiment closely.

My "outside looking in" on these organizations says that the worst situation for ASA would be for NFHS to make the change and ISF not.

Red face

I found that my statement for the proposed ASA rule change is supossed to only apply to the 18 Gold tournament.

Sorry about the wrong info.

This proposal has been around a couple of years, but I don't believe the committees' rejection has forced a floor vote in recent years. ISF would probably be the indicator.
