I heard the dude that was calling the USA/Japan game yesterday refer to a foul ball as a foul tip. What a pet peeve of mine, it's like OB instead of INT. Not a big deal, just a peeve. Anyway, kudos to the team from Japan, from what I saw yesterday, they played well, even though the USA pitchers seemed off.

You hear that with announcers all the time, in both baseball or softball. They are clueless, overpaid talking heads.

Talking

The ones they use for softball are damn pretty though.

Once while watching a MLB game on TV I saw the following play:

Runner on 2B. Batter gets a hit to right. Right-fielder charges, grabs the ball, and throws home, but too late to get the runner from 2B. On the throw to the plate, the BR took 2B.

Announcer Joe Morgan reminded all us fans out there in TV Land that although the batter hit what looked like a single, he actually gets credit for a double. The reason: after he rounded 1B, he continued nonstop to 2B. Whoever the other announcer was said, "Huh?" but then let it go.
