Mike I agree if asked correctly you can "paint him into a corner" so to speak and get to a rules interp. But he said IMJ she lost the ball as a result of the slide. To me that made it not protestable.

What really bothered me was the PU sold an out call on the initial slide. If he had any doubt on control why didn't he ask to see the ball, or just wait to make the call till he felt control was established / proven? By reversing the intial call it leads to an easy inference that the loss of control was a following action play. I think he did a quick CYA with the "IMJ she lost control as a result of the slide." which makes it judgement and non-protestable.
