Since I live in the OKC area, I had all session tickets to the WCWS. My sister and I, both umpires in the past, were surprised on how many calls the umpires quickly jumped on. Meaning, instead of taking that extra half second to let the play finish and making sure of a clean catch, no dropped ball, etc., they're quick to jump on a call.

Fortunately, no one had to reverse a call due to these quick calls. But we saw a few times where an umpire was starting/telegraphing an out call, then changed it to a safe, and vice versa.

We were very surprised at seeing these types of what we would consider rookie mistakes on this level of play.

Did anyone else notice?

I thought some were a bit quick, but I wasn't there. You were and I'll take your word for it.

BTW, sure am glad your post included a signature
