JR High FP between town rivals with about 100 spectators..Top 7th one out runners on 1st and 2nd.I'm the BU.Visitors up 3-0. Fly ball to R/C caught for 2nd out.Ball is returned to pitchers mound. Both teams leave field(can't say if baserunners were in the dugoutat this point)I check my indicator and look to my partner he also has 2 outs.I heard the Home team coach say there was only 2 outs.I said that runners would be placed back at 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. He's screaming that his players got the runner doubled off at first.I never saw it nor did my partner.Coach is walking quickly shouting in front of fans that I better get my head in the game and I'm a lousy umpire.I ejected him. He tells me he deserved a warning(LOL)
I've ejected players and coaches before but never in HS Sports.JR High is supposed to be about teaching and mentoring.I just couldn't get over how this guy was outright cheating. What would you have done under the same circumstances.

Same thing.

"What would you have done under the same circumstances."

Run him faster than you did. The first word would be the last before I ejected him.

Mick,

I believe he thinks the defense intentionally abandoned the field to lure the runners off their bases.

Keen play, but if you are going to do something like that, it would be wise to let the umpires know ahead of time.

However, as an umpire, the second I believe there is something askew and begin to look into it, I am now performing administrative duties relating to the game at hand and play is suspended under those conditions.

See, us umpires can be a bit sneaky, too

He got his warning at the pregame conference, when you told him that the game would be played under NFHS rules, and that NFHS emphasizes good sportsmanship and fair play.

Is this what you meant by cheating:
"He's screaming that his players got the runner doubled off at first.I never saw it nor did my partner."?

Apparently, the ball just laid on the ground by the pitcher's plate.

Thanks for all your input folks.I spoke to my UIC who agreed with my handling of the situation.Although he would have rung up the Baserunners for abandonong their bases. He said once this guy questions your judgment loudly and in a belligerent manner he has to go.On a side note I just felt that this coach knew he had 2 outs and was willing to screw and cheat the other team. This guy also has ambition to go up to Varsity level.

If you're going to use the word, "Cheat", you should probably mention what rule he's violating. I see no cheating here.

Do not push the envelope.
If you want to play, play nicely.
If you continue you will go away again.
