NFHS Rules - I know that the batter's box is much longer than in baseball (4 feet from the middle of the plate forward). That puts about 1/3 of the box in fair ball territory. If a batter bunts the ball while standing at the front of the box and the ball pops up and hits her, is she out? Or is she protected as long as she is in the batter's box? |

Bob, one thing I have learned in participating on message boards is:
Don't feed the trolls!! There has also been a lesson about not trying to teach a pig to sing, but I forget the exact wording. I believe the primary stater of that line frequents us, and will speak up. Mick, as moderator, I believe your services may be appropriate. |

Oh I won't... I just read and re-read it, and thought "maybe someone deleted a post that I missed" or something.
So where is the bridge that the troll is living under? Maybe we should just knock down the bridge and the troll will move elsewhere? The Freemont Troll, Seattle, Washington

Foot on the ground
At least one foot has to be on the ground completely outside the batter's box when contact is made for the batter to be out.
If it's not on the ground completely outside of the box until AFTER contact, it's just a foul ball.
