Quote:
I am merely quoting the book here, don't do SDP ASA Rule 8.1.3.(Coed) Any walk to a male batter will result in a two base award. The next batter (a female) will bat. EXCEPTION: With two outs, the female batter has the option to walk or bat. Should the female BR pass a male BR when choosing to walk, no out shall be called during the dead ball period. A male BR advancing to second base without touching 1B shall be called out if properly appealed.

Also remember this: when there's 2 outs, the lady's option is alive until she takes a pitch, then she must bat. Don't let any morons tell you just because she put one foot in the batter's box that she has to bat. Had that come up last year in a coed rec league. Had to warn a scorekeeper and the coach for the defense (who was playing catcher) because they were so insistent that she had to bat because she put one foot in the box. GROAN!
Make matters worse, the next day, I stop at the league office and my friend who works there asked me if that was my game because the coach called and complained that I was wrong. Thank goodness buddy in the office is a fellow blue who told the coach that she was wrong. She then went on a tirade on the phone, saying that every umpire in town was wrong because the office was wrong! Sigh. |
