Is there an online version of the ASA softball rules, and if so, where is it?

AtlUmpSteve Mon May 02, 2005 10:07pm

No, not online. ASA rulebooks may be purchased from your Commissioner, JO Commissioner, Player Reps, or UIC. If/when you register a team, or as an umpire, you receive an ASA rulebook.

I am just funning you here TXMike, but I wish you had
no asked that question here, especially since you are
from Texas. Mike is just waiting for something like
this.

Welcome to the softball board. I see you are an official
of a different sport.

Steve has answered you question. You could get an 04 book from a friend
and go to ASA website and get the changes and print them.

You can get the ASA Rule book on the Umpire's Mechanics CD available at softballoutlet.com.

Its probably in the same hidden website where the answers to the test are.

I have been asked, and stupidly agreed to, be a volunteer umpire for our company intramural softabll league. ALl I wanted to do was get a general feel for the rules. I am a football guy first and last but did not want to mak a total fool of myself. It is a "for fun" coed league so should not be too intense.

Good luck TX. I know from your posts on the football board that you care about getting it right. I think you'll do well.

PS - ASA doesn't post their rules on line anywhere. You can get it from an ASA Commish for $10, or get the CD mentioned above.

Surely you know at least one umpire? Ask him for his last year's book; you can download the rules changes for 2005 from http://www.softball.org.

How would I know an umpire???? I only associate with classy folks (i.e. football refs). ;-)

Remember, I warned you! I tried to save you from this
harassment. Now, to keep
from getting further digs, do not mention BB in your postings. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/mi...smiley-125.gif
