This happened a couple of days ago. Fed JV game. When runner was stealing the catcher would pull off her helmet as the pitch was approaching the plate, I guess to get a jump on the steal attempt. This happened a couple of times leading up to a point where pitcher was just releasing the ball and catcher had the helmet off and up in a semi crouch still behind the plate. After that one I talked to the coach about the safety issue and he set her straight.

My question is what, if any, rule would prevent her from doing this? 3-2-10 speaks of utilizing equipment properly. Maybe that one? The batter never attempted any swing or was even aware of the antics so I couldn't see the batter affected by catcher obstruction. Any ideas?

Gotta love JV.

How about Rule 1. Section 7, Art 3.

1-7-1 is better but 3-2-10, 3-6-11 also
